Hawkins Muiderman company core values

Hawkins Muiderman stands for ‘Business Excellence’.

A company's core values are central to its success. These beliefs help people find a common cause with each other, and sustain this common cause and sense of direction through the many changes that take place form one generation to another.

Success comes through a sound set of beliefs, on which a company premises all its policies and actions. Beliefs must always come before policies, practices and goals. The beliefs should be stuck to through thick and thin; the most important single factor to corporate success is faithful adherence to those beliefs. Beliefs never change; change everything else but never the basic truths on which the company is based.

  • Integrity
  • Inspiration
  • Knowledge
  • Delivering Exceptional Results

Meet the team

Berni Hawkins, Founder Hawkins Muiderman

Berni HawkinsPeople often ask me how I ended up doing the things I do now; how does one make the transition from army officer to the Wellness Industry? Well, it takes 2 determined gentlemen and a lady who likes to lunch!

Motivation is the inner drive that compels human behaviour. Many have previously said that great things happen when you least expect them. The secret of success in life is for a man to be ready for his opportunity when it comes. Sometimes emotive messages inspiring us to make a change, to relate to certain events of our past or to take action for the future are shown to us in the strangest places; by talking to friends, colleagues, maybe evening watching films or listening to music; intuition definitely plays a role!

My message came to me at lunch! It was 1998, it involved Lord Thurso (now a Politician) and Philippe Rossiter (now CEO of the Institute of Hospitality) and a scene that resembled, HOTELYMPIA does "It ain't 'alf hot mum", the rest is history…..ask me about it some time, it’s surreal!

Berni, a former army officer, started her career in the spa and leisure industry in 1998 as Operations Manager, working with Lord Thurso at Champneys of Tring. She then moved on to further leading roles with various industry operators including general management roles with Virgin Active and LA Fitness and Directorships back at The Champneys Group, Whitbread PLC and most recently Lifehouse, Tangram Leisure Limited.

Training and development of people has always played an important role in Berni's life both professionally and personally. She comments, "In the army, you spend the majority of your life training to ensure the delivery of the mission. The quality of your soldiers and you as a leader must constantly be encouraged and cultivated, as no matter what the endeavour or one's desire (not always ability), determines success". Berni truly feels that 'total dedication' to the heights of human potential creates champions and champion behaviour.

When literally missing in action, Berni can often be found tending to her allotment, carrying out some outdoor sport (a keen skier and sailor) or on the island of Walcheren, Holland; her motherland.

Whilst attending an ISPA Conference, Dr Beatrice Berry once said, "When you walk with… purpose, you collide with destiny and through it all, you have to have so much fun, you’ll forget to grow old".

Berni remains 27....forever!

Ann Nevin, Management Consultant

Berni HawkinsBefore joining Hawkins Muiderman, Ann worked as a British Army Officer and an independent management consultant. She specialises in whole organisation HR solutions combined with tailored learning and development interventions. She has a proven track record in employee engagement, from assessment and analysis to creating bespoke engagement strategies. She has a Masters in Defence Administration from Cranfield University, is an executive and leadership coach and a master practitioner in neuro-linguistic programming. She is a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development (CIPD), the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) and the European Mentoring and Coaching Council (EMCC).

Ann served as an Army Officer for 18 years, working in a number of different countries, leading soldiers on operations and in peacetime. This was a fantastic time delivering hands on frontline leadership at many levels and in many challenging situations. During the last few years in the Army, she managed performance and financial risk for a large military headquarters and delivered tri-service, values based leadership training. She is passionate about developing high performance organisations and strong leaders that value and maximise the potential of their employees.

Her main areas of interest are leadership, organisational behaviour, diversity, well-being and team effectiveness.

Ann is married, has four beautiful girls and two dogs which of course leave little time for leisure! In between chauffeuring, tidying and umpiring her home team, she likes to tend her garden, ski and dive although she admits that whilst the garden is looking good she has not seen the inside of a live-aboard dive boat for a while.

Jenna Barnard, Operations Manager

Berni HawkinsJenna started her working career as Events Co-ordinator, MCI UK Ltd, Event Operations Division (EOD), a Pan European Event management and Communications Company. A key member of a successful and effective team, project managing and delivering fully coordinated events with all the required logistical support and liaison.

Her move to the leisure industry came in 2009 when Jenna was responsible for membership at Goodwood Road Racing Club and Goodwood Aero Club. The Goodwood Aero Club and Road Racing Club are 2 sporting clubs that make up part of the Goodwood Group of companies

Prior to joining Hawkins Muiderman, Jenna was Executive Assistant to the Managing Director, Lifehouse Resort Spa based in Thorpe le Soken, Essex. Lifehouse is a new contemporary health spa, offering a unique, life-enriching experience, tailor-made for every guest.

When not in the office Jenna can be found somewhere in the East Anglian countryside being dragged along by Sam, her dog who is bigger than she is, or being knocked off horses by trees! Jenna’s favourite colour is maroon and she thinks beetroot is all wrong!

As a wife of a member of The Parachute Regiment, Jenna plays an active role in fund raising events for the charity Help for Heroes.
