Reduce electro sensitivity

In our quest to become a successful business, the words “I’m stressed”, feature heavily in the work place and are certainly affecting staff productivity and therefore the bottom line. Sick days through stress, cost our economy millions of pounds each year.

So, why is it that we don’t take stress seriously or look at the causes? Is because…

  • Stress levels cannot be measured conventionally
  • Stress is perceived to be a mental state
  • Stress is highly valued in the workplace, if you’re stressed, the belief is that you are working hard and improving the company’s bottom line
  • Few people understand the mechanism by which stress (and its hormones, adrenalin and cortisol) erode and image your physical functioning
  • Conventional stress reduction interventions such as meditation, yoga, biofeedback, are hard to find, difficult to sustain and most importantly, in accessible in the course of a work day

Let’s take the scientific approach!

Electro sensitivity, sounds technical? Humans are!

All of us are sensitive to the electromagnetic fields that now constantly surround us. Like all sensitivities, some people are more sensitive than others. These people directly feel the presence of the electromagnetic fields and are aware that it is affecting their health. They suffer with symptoms that include: headaches, cardiac arrhythmia, reduced concentration, fatigue, sleep disorders and even physical joint and muscle pains.

Electro Sensitivity Syndrome (ESS)

People do not suddenly wake up one morning suffering from ESS; it is a slow, progressive reduction in function that cumulates over a period of time. The reaction of the body to constant electromagnetic smog can be seen in 3 phases.

Phase 1 – Disturbance

The person starts to feel slightly 'unwell'; they are usually unable to give specifics, just not feeling 'quite right'. These are often a combination of minor symptoms such as; reduced of concentrations, disrupted sleep patterns, emotional sensitivity and tiredness.

Phase 2 – Dysfunction

The symptoms are now more obvious and are fairly frequent. They progress from Phase 1 to: headaches and migraines, frequent illness, fatigue but the inability to have quality sleep and digestive disorders.

Phase 3 – Illness

By this phase the body is in 'melt down', suffering with a range of symptoms on a constant basis. Often resulting in the sufferer being unable to work or carry out any task requiring physical or mental energy.

How concerned should be about electromagnetic sensitivity?

VERY! In 2006 the World Health Organisation made the link that increasing levels of Electromagnetic Smog appear to be linked with the increasing number of people with depression and sleep related problems.

In 1996, only 0.1% of the western population were considered to be suffering with Phase 3 electro sensitive illness. By 2007 this number has risen to 5% of the western population and is forecast to be 15% by 2015.

Many experts consider that over 70% of the western population are suffering Phase 1 or 2 levels of electro sensitivity syndrome!
